How to Celebrate the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus + the Immaculate Heart of Mary

On June 13, 1917 Our Lady of Fatima told the shepherd children to form a special devotion to her Immaculate Heart. She said, “since Jesus wishes you to make me known and loved on earth. He wishes also for you to establish devotion in the world to my Immaculate Heart. I will be with you always, and my Immaculate Heart will be your comfort and the way which will lead you to God.”

On July 13, she gave them the prayer: “Make sacrifices for sinners, and say often, especially while making a sacrifice: O Jesus, this is for love of Thee, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.”

And later gave them direction: “I shall ask that on the First Saturday of every month Communions of reparation be made in atonement for the sins of the world.”

Next week we will celebrate both the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary on June 28th and 29th.

There are many prayers that can be prayed for these feasts and I am so excited about our new Sacred Heart paper plates to use for a little celebration.

Sacred Heart Activity
sacred heart activity feast day

There are so many fun ways to use food for the Sacred Heart. I sliced some strawberries to look like hearts and added the flames with little slivers of mango (my current favorite summer fruit!). I also attempted to make heart shaped sugar cookies with a plan to decorate them with tiny flowers that I bought a week ago. My morning sickness delayed my cookie making the flowers bloomed and I could only get one flower on the cookie! I have never been known for my skills in the kitchen, so I asked some friends if they would share their ideas from years past.

If you’re anything like me, the easier, the better. I created an activity page that you can download for free. One of my favorite types religious art are the Sacred Heart wall hangings that are covered in milagros. I love the idea that when someone would pray to a saint for help on a particular need, they would then take a little piece of metal that represents the need to the statue of the saint as thanks.

As I was thinking about my own understanding of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the heart that I can rest in, the heart that has space for you and for me and everyone in between, I was thinking about all of the beautiful miracles that have happened in my life. I drew out some of them to cover my own Sacred Heart.

For this activity you (and or your children) can cover the heart in drawings of big and small miracles from your life. If you’re stuck, the second print out as some drawings that can be cut and pasted!

And the best part is that every first Friday and first Saturday of the month, you can celebrate the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart!

Grotto Network Mini Film

On a day in March, Gino met me and my husband at our house to follow our morning routine before I headed into my studio. Grotto Network had sent him to film a day in the life of a Catholic entrepreneur. He asked to come on a day where he could capture the insanity that is running a small business so I invited him on a day with a photoshoot to launch our Easter Collection.

After he left, I was mortified that he captured me on a day where I was a little off kilter - so nervous about how my new line would be received. It felt much too vulnerable to be filmed in such a state.

Today the mini film came out and it’s so gorgeous (despite my very bad hair day). I talk about the importance of beginning again and starting my day rooted in prayer.

You can watch it here!
