Upstate New York Wedding.

Shane and Hanna came to me after seeing Jacky and Tyler's wedding invitation. They had a vision of an elegant garden party with various dusty blues and greens for their Upstate New York wedding. They sent me pictures of their venue, Bristol Harbour and I immediately got a vision of the invitation. Upstate New York Bespoke Wedding

I knew we needed a more traditional calligraphy style and thought that the beautiful shape of the mountain backdrop and foreshadowed trees would tie the blue and green together perfectly. On the day of the wedding, when I saw a photograph posted to Instagram of what the actual ceremony looked like, my mouth dropped open. It was perfect! All photography is by Mary Dougherty Photography.

Shane and Hanna were so lovely to work with and I knew their big day would be gorgeous.

The couple lives in Manhattan so they wanted to bring in a city element to the day. I hand painted the New York skyline with the same blues as the invitation. They had guests "find their neighborhood" for their seating assignments.

We also made custom menus duplicating the cute food drawings that we had on the RSVP card.

Washington DC Wedding.

Last winter, Nikki came to me with an idea to highlight her beloved city of Washington DC on her wedding stationary. She attended college there, met the love of her life there and was now building a life there. I loved the idea. We started with a full skyline for the save the date, which was printed in a beautiful gold. IMG_0828

Then, we expanded on this for the formal invitation. I like to say that it showed me how it wanted to be laid out. We highlighted the Capitol Building, the Washington Monument, and the Lincoln Memorial. I hand painted each piece, including a map of the DC area. We paired it with a simple calligraphy to feel formal and traditional.

Nikki worked with a local printer to pick out the perfect paper and envelopes. One of my favorite details is that the wedding venue cross streets fit right on the flap of the envelope!

Wow! What a stunning couple that Zack and Nikki make. I love this shot that was taken by 1513 Photography with the monuments in the background. Once again the invitation is a beautiful foretelling of what guests would experience on their big day as a beautiful Washington DC wedding.

The couple had the idea to use these cards from Paper Source as their escort cards. I wrote the names of each guest on the outside and their table number on the inside. Then, the couple included another card inside that had a special, individual note for each guest! I love that thoughtful detail.

Nikki's cousin handmade their cake and I did a little painting tribute to highlight Ellie and her beautiful work.

Nikki, what a beautiful, beautiful bride you made! I absolutely loved working with you and am filled with gratitude that you asked me to be a part of your wedding day.

It is one of my favorite parts of my job. I spend a good amount of time in the beginning getting to know the couple when they first come to me. I love to see pictures of them, hear their love story, etc. And then we go into discussing what they envision for their day. Even though I'm only doing the paper goods, it is so important to have the invitations be a foretelling of what guests will experience on the wedding day.

We go over inspiration, talk about colors and the feeling they want to invoke. And then I get to the drawing board. I draw up a sketch incorporating everything and then set to the first draft.

It is such a fun process including choosing paper and envelopes and the overall package that a guest will receive. Probably my favorite part is the prayer that goes into my designs. I spend a lot of time caring about every tiny detail so I make it a prayer for the couple. I pray for their marriage, for their family and friends who will gather on that day and for the family that this marriage will create. It is truly a joy!

Tucson, Arizona Wedding.

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. David Mares who were married on September 5, 2015 in Tucson, Arizona! What a joy it was to be a part of their bespoke, Catholic wedding. Paige came to me before she was even engaged to ask if I would do her wedding paper goods. Of course I said yes! She had a vision for her day and wanted to include the beautiful blooms that she would have as well as the desert landscape. My mouth dropped open when I saw these amazing wedding photographs from Jenn Wagner Studio because the wedding invitation matched so perfectly to the day.

I had to include a few of these beautiful shots of Paige and David praying together during their ceremony.

I hand wrote the seating charts that they propped outside of the event venue on simple chalkboards.

Then I painted with my favorite gold ink on top of a rose colored watercolor wash for the table numbers. The bride placed them in these sweet gold frames.

And as a special detail, she had each table paired with a saint.

So many prayers for both of you, Paige and David and your marriage. Thank you for letting us be such a big part of your day!
