If you learn to stay open at all times, great things will happen to you. You simply have to learn not to close.
In relation to my post the other day about how I manage my anxiety, I read this book called The Untethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself by Michael Singer. I'm actually reading it for the second time, now. It is rocking my world and I am telling every person to read it. It hit me the other day, though, that maybe not everyone will find it as enlightening as I do because they don't have the same "issues" that I have.
But my golly! I have had anxious feelings since childhood. I was one of those hyper sensitive, observes more than was ever good for me children. As I have aged, I let the anxiety hijack my life. If I felt it, it had to be real, right?
The book has changed my life. For example, the other day I woke up with anxiety over some dream that I had that was really stressful. My heart was clenched and I was already in fight or flight mode. But I was able to look at the anxiety, ask myself what the anxiety was about--did I have any reason for it? Was it valid? Did I need it? No, I never need anxiety. I took some deep breaths and I said, "thanks, but no thanks. goodbye." And that was that. I got out of bed and went on with my day! A simple thing it may seem to some, but in all my life I had never known I could do such a thing! That same anxiety would have stuck with me for a few days.
