On June 13, 1917 Our Lady of Fatima told the shepherd children to form a special devotion to her Immaculate Heart. She said, “since Jesus wishes you to make me known and loved on earth. He wishes also for you to establish devotion in the world to my Immaculate Heart. I will be with you always, and my Immaculate Heart will be your comfort and the way which will lead you to God.”
On July 13, she gave them the prayer: “Make sacrifices for sinners, and say often, especially while making a sacrifice: O Jesus, this is for love of Thee, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.”
And later gave them direction: “I shall ask that on the First Saturday of every month Communions of reparation be made in atonement for the sins of the world.”
Next week we will celebrate both the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary on June 28th and 29th.
There are many prayers that can be prayed for these feasts and I am so excited about our new Sacred Heart paper plates to use for a little celebration.
There are so many fun ways to use food for the Sacred Heart. I sliced some strawberries to look like hearts and added the flames with little slivers of mango (my current favorite summer fruit!). I also attempted to make heart shaped sugar cookies with a plan to decorate them with tiny flowers that I bought a week ago. My morning sickness delayed my cookie making the flowers bloomed and I could only get one flower on the cookie! I have never been known for my skills in the kitchen, so I asked some friends if they would share their ideas from years past.
