Let Go Journal

A few years ago I was really struggling with a lot of anxiety and worry. I had so many fears floating around in my head and was not coping well. My spiritual director told me about Saint Jane Frances de Chantal who experienced a lot of hardship in her life. She lost her husband when he was murdered and she was left with her six children. She created a religious order for women who were not accepted in other communities. She practiced a prayerful meditation every morning where she envisioned herself going out into the ocean and floating on her back. She would take each worry, fear, anxiety like a buoy and let it go into the vast water one by one. She imagined God taking each one as she let go. 

The next day, the buoy would have returned and she would once again envision letting it go until the day that maybe one of the buoys was no longer returning at all! I came to really love this practice in my own prayer life and came up with this pattern of women letting go of their buoys.

I hope that this journal is a place that you can let go of your worries and fears. Let it be a small reminder to let go, just for today and trust in the vast love of our God.
