How to pray Our Lady of Sorrows Devotion
This month, we encourage you to pray the devotion of Our Lady of Sorrows with us! This powerful prayer cultivates the virtue of compassion through identifying with Mary’s suffering and empathizes with her as a mother who endured sufferings for the sake of us. This devotion provides an opportunity for us to recognize our own grief and offer our own sorrows, too.
What is the devotion of Our Lady of Sorrows?
Mary promised to grant seven graces to those who honor her by saying seven Hail Mary's and by meditating on her tears and sorrows. Each sorrow begins with an Our Father and is followed by seven Hail Mary's.

The First Sorrow: The Prophecy of Simeon

The second sorrow: The flight into Egypt

The third sorrow: The loss of Jesus for three days

The fourth sorrow: Mary meets Jesus carrying the cross

The promise: I will give them as much as they ask for as long as it does not oppose the will of my divine Son or the sanctification of their souls.
The fifth sorrow: Mary at the foot of the cross

The promise: I will defend them in their spiritual battles with the infernal enemy and I will protect them at every instant of their lives.
The sixth sorrow: Mary receives the body of Jesus

The promise: I will visibly help them at the moment of their death, and they will see the face of their Mother.
The seventh sorrow: Mary witnesses the burial of Jesus

The promise: I have obtained from my divine Son, that those who propagate this devotion to my tears and dolors, will be taken directly from this earthly life to eternal happiness since all their sins will be forgiven and my Son and I will be their eternal consolation and joy.
