Happy Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe!
12/12! Happy Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe!
This year Mary has beckoned me to make beautiful art for her. I fell in love with her in high school after my whole, big family traveled to Mexico City to visit a home that my dad lived in as a child to celebrate my grandparent’s 50th wedding anniversary. I had never seen anything like her Basilica and was fascinated by the Miracle of her tilma.
I included her in my Marian print of different Marian apparitions that have a special place in my heart and life.
Then one night sitting on my couch, I was inspired to draw her in a little black and white image. That image turned into an enamel pin and then I wanted to make an Our Lady of Guadalupe bandana. I wanted it to be black and white for versatile clothing and had an idea to carve it by hand. I have the great fortune that my design assistant is a master print maker. Chelsea carved the image I drew by hand into linoleum and printed her in ink on paper. We then added cacti and roses to represent the story of Mary appearing to Juan Diego in the desert or Mexico.
We loved it so much that I then had the idea to turn the design into a swaddle blanket!! After waiting ages for them to be made, they are miraculously arriving TODAY. I can’t help but laugh over Mary’s surprise guidance in this.
Then I realized that I don’t even have a baby to be able to use the swaddle blanket, but I do love journals. So the design turned into journals! And they are amazing.
You can now get so many goodies in a new BUNDLE!
The last thing we made is a large 16×20 gold leaf Our Lady of Guadalupe print for the home. The way it shimmers in the light is divine.
As a celebration, take 12% off today for all orders and every order placed today (12/12/18) will be entered for a chance to win 1 Our Lady of Guadalupe hand printed linen banner. There were only 8 of these made and have been sold at in person events. No code necessary.
Today, my new husband (!!!) and I are going to the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City on our honeymoon. Leave your special intentions and prayer requests in the comments and we will take them with us!
