Throw A Little Flower Dinner Party

Last year for the release of my book, Living the Seasons, I threw a dinner party for friends of mine who I knew from various parts of my life. I wanted to celebrate the hard work that went into this book and the beauty that it was bringing to the world.

Since it was in October, I decided on a Little Flower theme as a nod to St. Therese of Lisieux whose feast day is on October 1st. I thought I'd share the details so you could throw a Little Flower Dinner Party, too!

I served rosé as a nod to the quote, “I will send down a shower of roses from the heavens; I will spend my heaven doing good upon earth.”

We also had Lavender Lemonade.

I created an hors d'oeuvre table of meats, cheeses, fruits, and jams for guests to enjoy upon their arrival.

Since the book is full of crafts, I knew we needed to do one. Plus it’s a nice way for people to chat and get to know each other.

I hand lettered St. Therese’s quote: “If every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its loveliness.” I thrifted a bunch of wooden picture frames. And purchased dried pressed flowers. Then each guest got to lay out their own flower arrangement around the quote, glue it down, and eventually place it in a frame to take home!

Once everyone was done, we sat down to dinner. The table scape was gorgeous with a blue gingham table cloth and colorful napkins that I paired with my grandmother’s fine china.

I hired The Little Florist to provide florals for the table.

I had read that the French serve food that can be prepared well in advance so that they can be present to their guests. So that week, I made a delicious Beef Bourguignon and then warmed it up that afternoon. We served a French Country Salad to begin. Then served the Beef Bourguignon with mashed potatoes and French Bread for the main entree.

For dessert, I prepared a vegan chocolate mousse and served it with a bit of whipped cream and raspberries.

It was all so delicious and fun. I can’t believe that my book has been out for an entire year now! It is still available for purchase here. It has many more activities to honor St. Therese and other saints!
