Sharing my heart.
Last week a couple of the women who run Verily reached out to me to see if I would be willing to write an article for National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month. Verily is a women’s fashion and lifestyle website that’s “less of who you should be, more of who you are.” Their mission is to empower and inspire women to be the best versions of themselves.
I have learned in my recovery to be of service when I am asked, so I knew I had to say yes. I wrote a deep and personal story of my alcoholism and road to recovery, in hopes that I may help someone else.
It is so easy to share the parts of my life that are glamorous, the parts that are acceptable to be talked about in society. It is so much harder to share about the behind the scenes, the experiences that have helped me grow in this woman that I am. I love the movement of the past years encouraging authenticity, which I find is necessary in the act of “being a heart.”
Find the article here.
And purchase the Serenity Prayer hand lettered by me.
